Printing With Cans

Supplies:  glue
                 yarn, sponges, dry macaroni noodles
                 clean empty cans (make sure there are no rough edges)
                 tempera paint
                 paper towels
                 shallow pans to roll the cans
                          (old pie tins or the styrofoam trays that are under
                            your meat from the store are the best)
                 construction paper

Glue pieces of yarn, sponges or macaroni to the sides of the clean, empty cans in various patterns.  Place folded paper towels in shallow containers and pour small amounts of tempera paint on top.  Have the children roll the cans across the paint "pads", then roll them on pieces of construction paper to make prints.

Imagine the fancy wrapping paper that they could make if you use poster paper or butcher paper, ...
